Barmby Moor Kids Club

Barmby Moor Kids Club offers before/after school and holiday care for children aged between 4 and 14 years of age. There are currently 200 children registered with the club, which has been running successfully for 16 years.

The Club is based at The Old School Building in Barmby Moor, York. Essential renovation works were carried out on the building in 2007, in order to meet strict Health and Safety OFSTED requirements. Although this work significantly improved the structure and appearance of the building, further work was greatly needed to ensure its continued use as a community facility.

In February 08, the Kids Club applied for support from Key Fund Yorkshire. The group needed £15,000 to complete the renovation but could not afford to service a loan for the full amount. In March 08, the Key Fund awarded Barmby Moor Kids Club with a Growth package comprising a £5,000 grant and a loan of £10,000. The £15,000 was the last part of funding required by the Kids Club and would allow the £95,000 renovation project to be completed.

The Growth package is helping the Kids Club to improve their premises with the provision of a modern disabled/staff toilet and changing area. It is also allowing for the addition of much needed storage space, an office area, and a new entrance and foyer. This is all allowing Barmby Moor Kids Club to secure their long-term future and consequently ensure that their facilities are maintained for future generations.
