Fresh Horizons Limited
Fresh Horizons is a community building and asset management company based in Huddersfield. The company currently manage a number of buildings within the area, including managed workspace and community space.
Through running their successful building management business, Fresh Horizons discovered that smaller community based organisations are consistently struggling to balance their social activity and primary purpose with the day to day management of their buildings. To work towards alleviating this problem Fresh Horizons have developed an innovative new model of community asset management.
Fresh Horizons are proposing to manage community buildings on behalf of organisations across the borough and potentially further afield. They can then apply economies of scale, implement sound business and financial practices, ensure compliance with legislation and good practice, reduce costs through new technology which allows the remote opening of buildings and apply their successful experience by supporting groups in developing and making the best use of community assets.
In August 2008, Fresh Horizons were awarded a Growth package of £30,000 from Key Fund Yorkshire. The £10,000 grant and £20,000 loan will contribute towards the purchase of a centralised booking software package and the salary of a Promotions and Development Worker.
The funding from Key Fund Yorkshire is part of a much wider development by Fresh Horizons, which will include developing a centralised security and control system, a new switchboard and consultation with other community venues.
