Glasshoughton Community Forum Limited
Glasshoughton Community Forum own and run the Glasshoughton Centre, a healthy living centre with wide ranging modern sporting facilities that acts a community hub for local residents.
The Glasshoughton Centre offers facilities for indoor and outdoor sports; including football, netball and baseball, a vast range of courses and events; such as Health Improvement and Educational programmes. There are also many Children and family events and courses of interest. The Centre’s changing room building was completed just 2 years ago, and offers one of the finest facilities in the district. Similarly, their bowls section has a wonderful playing Green, and a new Pavilion which was completed during 2006.
The Centre is currently working on the development of an activity studio; a 12 meter sq. soft sprung wooden floor area that will be used for a wide range of physical exercise, sport, dance, drama and community based initiatives.
The Glasshoughton Centre has just been successful in their bid for £30,000 from Key Fund Yorkshire. The Growth package of a £10,000 grant and a £20,000 loan is the final piece of funding needed by the centre to complete the £364,000 building and development project. The activity studio will be the only one of its kind in the Glasshoughton area and is anticipated to be very popular with groups and individuals of all ages.
