Humber Forest School Ltd
Humber Forest School are part of an international Forest Education Initiative set up by the Forestry Commission to increase the understanding and appreciation of the environmental, social and economic potential of trees, woodlands and forests.
Humber Forest School offer an innovative approach to education, through outdoor play and learning. They work with children, from local primary and secondary schools, who on the verge of exclusion or are not settled in a traditional teaching environment. The School gives them the opportunity to succeed and become contributors to adult society. They also provide opportunities for increasing family cohesion.
In September 2008, Humber Forest School applied to the Key Fund for a support package of £10,000. In October they were awarded a £5,000 grant and £5,000 loan, to support the purchase of a vehicle for the School and also to cover core start up costs such as buying essential equipment.
The initial small investment from Key Fund Yorkshire will allow Humber Forest School to fully launch their enterprise.
