Stephen Harrison Academy Ltd
The Stephen Harrison Academy (SHA) is a social enterprise aimed at providing mentoring programmes for people with learning disabilities, mental health disabilities, physical disabilities, children with autism, children with obesity, young offenders and NEETS (Not currently engaged in Employment, Education or Training).
The academy’s aim is to enable disadvantaged groups and individuals to participate in sport and improve their quality of life. This includes a mentoring programme, a 10 step learning certificate and an eat-well plan, through the activity of snooker. SHA’s objective is social inclusion for all regardless of physical or mental health.
SHA came to the Key Fund in November 2008 for support with the running and business development costs of the business. The £10,000 grant and £40,000 loan will go towards marketing and branding costs, recruitment, training and salary costs. This will allow the academy to employ further staff and increase their capacity to deliver future contracts.
