Yorkshire Martial Arts Limited

Yorkshire Martial Arts Ltd, based in Keighley, operates a multi-purpose gym facility for martial arts, boxing and strength sports.

The business originally began as a number of outreach programmes working with disengaged young people. The demand for these services grew to such an extent that, in December 2008, the unique sporting facility was opened to cater for the wider community.

Yorkshire Martial Arts has identified a real need in schools and colleges for their coaching and mentoring services. They currently contract their services to a number of schools and colleges in the region but would like to extend this on a wider scale.

In order to widen their delivery, Yorkshire Martial Arts needed to employ a dedicated Business Development Manager to market and promote the gym and its outreach services, in turn enabling the coaching staff to concentrate on delivery of the service.

In March 2009, Key Fund Yorkshire provided Yorkshire Martial Arts with a £10,000 grant and a £30,000 loan to support with the Business Development Manager’s salary, recruitment and marketing costs, and the purchase of further training equipment.
