17 Oct 2008: Footsey for Free
The Footsey 100 trade fair is a key fixture for the social economy in Yorkshire and the Humber and is the largest Social Enterprise trade fair in the whole of the UK. Held on Thursday 16th October, it was an unrivalled showcase for social enterprises to promote themselves and for buyers to procure their services and products. Now in its seventh year, the event held at York Racecourse attracted over 600 delegates from all over the UK.
After last year’s success, Key Fund Yorkshire repeated their ‘Footsey for Free’ initiative at the 2008 event. The Key Fund, in partnership with Charity Bank in the North, invited voluntary and community organisations from across Yorkshire and the Humber to apply for a grant to attend Footsey. This covered the cost of attending the event, its workshops and a number of lunchtime surgeries.
There was an overwhelming amount of interest in the ‘Footsey for Free’ grants with the Key Fund providing support to allow more than 170 delegates to attend the event. One of the delegates supported by the Key Fund said ‘A huge Thank You to Key Fund Yorkshire for the free place and the grant for attending the Footsey event. It was a great opportunity and lots of food for thought in how to take our organisation forward. Many thanks for all your help and support.’
